Born in 1965, my family lived in four different states by the time I graduated High School. I still live only minutes from that High School. Born the third of five kids, we had a big family, and the birth order thing pretty much played itself out with the Kuzma’s. I was the steady Eddie of the bunch, somewhat to my own demise. I’ve struggled with perfectionism and workaholism to whatever I put my hand to. Work, golf, computers, weight loss, etc.
After I graduated High School, following God’s call to become a Pastor, I went to LIFE Bible College. Since then, I’ve been serving at the same place of ministry. Since 1997, I’ve been the Senior Pastor at NewHeart Foursquare Church. However, I had already been here 12 years when that change occurred, my first 8 as Youth Pastor and the next 4 as Associate Pastor.
Colleen (a nurse) and I have been married since 1986, and we are pretty passionately in love with each other. It’s an unexplainable God-thing. We have two great kids, Joshua and Jonathan, born ten months apart in 1995. I know what you’re thinking, but it’s not what you’re thinking! They’re both adopted from birth. Amazing stories, the both of them.
I am honored to serve as a Chaplain with the Simi Valley Police Department. It’s a role that fits me well. I’ve been serving there since April of 2000.
I am the author of Pastor For Life, a blog that aims to “resource Pastors for a lifetime of life-giving.” I learned a lot about a concept called Pastoral Self-Care while recovering from burnout several years ago. Pastor For Life is born and is still evolving out of that experience.
I also serve as a Ministry Representative and Coordinator for the Church-wide Initiative with an organization called Emotionally Healthy Spirituality. You can read more at our website, but it was (and continues to be) life-transforming material God is using in my life. I am privileged to serve in a capacity that allows me to help other Pastors and Leaders on their journey.

Hello Buzzy er i mean Paul er i mean Pastor how are you. You seem fine (Other than the nose bleeds) glad to see you are in good health and seem to be doing fine especially in the eyes of the Lord and look like you have a fine relationship with the Lord, great family and life. Wonder if you remember me and my good friend Troy Testa from sepulveda jr.high weight training days ? Those were some of the best of my life. Anyway i was talking to Troy today and i mentioned another friend we had from our neighborhood who was also named Paul that had passed away when he was 33 prompting him to say “hey remember kuzzy Paul Kuzma” which i replied “of course” and while i was speaking to him on the phone i was also online so decided to put a search on your name so here i am to wish you the best from both of us and very glad to see that you have accomplished alot and given back alot in your life. You should be very proud i definitely am. Take care my old friend
